Cold Snap works on most major brands of heating and air conditioning equipment, including Trane, Carrier, Goodman, Amana, Rheem, Ruud, Maytag, GE, Comfortmaker and Heil. The right brand matters less than the right size and a quality installation. A well-installed mid-range system will outperform a poorly installed premium one.

How to compare quotes

• Same size? Make sure each quote is for the same tonnage, or ask why it isn’t.
• Same efficiency? Compare SEER2 ratings; higher saves more on Florida’s long cooling season.
• What’s included? Permit, new line set or flush, new pad, drain safety switch, thermostat, haul-away and startup testing all affect the price.
• Who installs it? Ask for the contractor’s Florida license number. Ours is CAC1822413.

What a new system costs to run

A system’s efficiency rating directly affects your electric bill. Moving from an older system around 10 SEER to a modern 15 to 16 SEER2 unit can noticeably lower cooling costs, and the gap is bigger in Southwest Florida than almost anywhere else because we cool so many months of the year.
